Jet is considered a gemstone, made from the fossilized wood of the ancient monkey tree. Jet can be found in Whitby on the northeast coast of England.
This graceful jet brooch in a  form of knot is simply breathtaking. There are very minor chip as picture 3  yet hardly noticeable. Measures 5*3.5cm a perfect brooch size.
